With a world-influenced diversity, and a deep implanted classical roots anchor, Markus Christoph presents a mysterious uniqueness for the listener, blending old methods with new styles, and stretching the bounds of the emotional spectrum. Piano at 7. Trumpet at 9. Guitar at 12. Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Karen and Julia rung his ears as a child. He seemed destined to rest his bones in the aural fields and harvest his creativity from its tonal curiosity.
Christoph's' blue jazz, classic prog-rock leaves a refreshing vibe in a world where genre lines have quickly lost their place-markers. An abundant passion for dynamic classicism often finds its way into his tracks, resulting in an opus of orchestral flavor. He occassionaly performs with several Philadelphia area bands, as well as solo, continues crafting his original songwriting and records daily in his home studio.
A solo performance chills out on a jazz and blues-striped couch, accented with mysterious progressive pillows, and draped in a smoothy-soft vocal blanket. Although the guitar is his instrument of choice, don't be surprised to find him propped behind a piano slowing it down a bit.
CD Releases:
Markus started off his solo career in 2005 with a show opening for Clive at the now extinct 4W5 Cafe in Wilmington. The recording of this show turned into his first release, and features songs from Sauerwine's "Vinyl e" and his own "A New Day" EP.
In 2006 he released a conceptual EP entitled, "A New Day". This 15 minute journey takes the listener through a 24 hour stretch of time full of reflection and self-realization.
"Songs from the Wishu Well" was released in November of 2007, and features 5 songs from a growing catelogue of recordings. Download this EP for free on the music page.
What does music inspire us to do? April 2008 saw the release of Christoph's third studio EP in as many years, "Sing & Dance", and fuses the boundaries of pop, blues, and island flavors.
